Effect of Ginsing Extract on Radiation Damages of the Skin Mast Cells in Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
The author presents here the, following results showing the effect of ginseng extract to the skin mast cells in two groups of relatively young adult male and female Swiss albino rats weighing under 200 gm : the one exposed 600 R total body X-irradiation and the other injected ginseng extract before and after X-irradiation.
1, In the group solely exposed too 600 R total body X-irradiation, the skin mast cells were most heavily damaged by X-rays in 12-24 hours after irradiation and were restored normally in two weeks.
2. In the group injected ginseng extract before and after X-irradiation, the number of mast cells, destruction of cells, disappearance of granules and reduction of stainability, etc. were rather slightly found and restored by for ahead of time, compared with the solely X-irradiated group.
3. Ginseng extract prevents and heals remarkably the skin mast cells caused by X-irradiation with lethal doses, prevoking the regeneration of the same cells.
